Dr. Collin Lee
Meet Dr. Lee
Dr. Collin Lee Jong Heuk was born in Jakarta, Indonesia but grew up most of his life in Hong Kong. During his time in Hong Kong, he volunteered his time working at dog shelters, adoption events and local veterinary clinics. He is also a strong advocate for mental health and spent time organizing puppy visits/socializations at his high school for students to decompress, especially around exam season. After graduating from Renaissance College Hong Kong (RCHK) in 2016, Collin completed his degree in Animal Biology (BSc) at the University of Guelph, ON before being accepted into the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in 2020.
Prior to attending OVC, Collin spent some time working on large animals and worked as a farmhand in an alpaca farm and shadowing a large animal veterinarian that specialized in Theriogenology (Animal Reproduction). Driving around the rural parts of Ontario, Collin had the opportunity to experience the life of rural veterinarians, assisting in herd health, dehorning, and surgery. He also had an opportunity to follow an exotics veterinarian in Ocean Park, an animal theme park in Hong Kong, working with dolphins, pythons, parrots and capybaras to name a few.
Collin first came to Creston during the summer of 2023 as a part of his veterinary placement under the supervision of Dr. Robert McLeod and fell in love with the Kootenay's as a whole. So much so, that he didn't hesitate to move back out after graduating in 2024 and making Creston his home away from home. As a veterinarian, he has an interest in improving his skills around small animal surgery, neurology and diagnostic imaging and hopes to be able to provide these services to the local community.
When he isn't at work, you can find him scaling a cliff face among the many crags the Kootenay has to offer, or getting lost in the mountains and hiking or camping in provincial parks. If he isn't out and about, he spends his days at home watching movies/TV shows or playing board games/video games with friends. Collin is excited to start his next chapter in such a unique and beautiful part of Canada.
